2008 AFL Champions Product Review |
Released March 2008 Select AFL Champions is the first release for Select AFL for the year. The set follows a similar line to the 2007 product but with one change. The gold foil signature series which made it's debut in AFL products in 2007 is replaced with a Blue Foil Signature series. Same as last year for the Gold Foil Signature there is 6 cards per team making up a 96 card set.
|
| Common Card : A good quality common card neither exceeding expectation or failing to deliver. 12 cards per team plus three checklist making up a quality 195 card set. |
| Value : Common Set $29.95 |
|
| Holographic Foiled Parallel Cards : A follow on from last years parallel style. A better execution this year by Select has come up with a stunning parallel card. These cards as individuals could stand alone as an insert. This years holgraphic features a pattern in the holographic background in a slight coloring of each individual team. The back of the cards once again features a large team logo making the cards very distinctive. The only criticism of the design would be the bottom of the back of the card is designed in such a way that it looks like it is a cutting error . Each team features 12 cards a parallel of each of the common cards. |
Team sets range from $10.00 to $20.00 |

|
| Sketch Card Inserts: Following on from last years collection Select has once again used the artists sketching of players to create these stunning inserts. Each team features 2 cards making up this 32 card set. |

| Draft Rookie Cards : Each year a new crop of draft rookie cards are produced by Select. This years edition are a nice looking card and were very popular on the open Market. As with every year it is knowing your AFL as to which cards will increase in value. You will generally pay more for the lower draft picks early in the season and as the season goes on players will emerge from the pack as strong sellers. |

Some big name cards in the set are Dale Thomas, Mathew Lloyd , Gary Ablett , Luke Hodge and Nick Riewoldt. |
| Case Cards : Three case cards were produced for this set only available on opening a 12 box case of NRL Champions 2008. The case cards come pre loaded in a hard top loader and in mint condition. These cards all celebrate players reaching the milestone of 300 games. |
